geography

River course

The river arises at Red Bluff on the western edge of the Quinkan Indigenous Reserve , an Aboriginal reserve in the Atherton Tablelands , which form part of the Great Dividing Range . Source rivers are the Shepherd Creek and the Flying Fox Creek . The place Red Bluff is about 90 km west-southwest of Cooktown . From there, the Little Laura River initially flows north-northeast and crosses under the Peninsula Developmental Road approx. 10 km northwest of the small town of Laura . Soon afterwards it turns its course to the east-northeast and flows into the Laura River at the Laura Lee settlement .
