Peninsula Developmental Road in Coen

The Peninsula Developmental Road is a trunk road in the tropical north of Queensland , Australia . It runs in a south-north direction and has a length of 685 kilometers. It is the only road connection to the Cape York Peninsula . It is unpaved along its entire length.

The Peninsula Developmental Road branches off the Mulligan Highway (S81) to the northwest in Lakeland .

It runs along the southwest edge of Lakefield National Park and then follows the east coast of the peninsula at a distance of about 50-60 kilometers. North of the Mungkan-Kandju National Park , Telegraph Road continues north towards Cape York . The Peninsula Developmental Road turns towards the west coast, which it reaches in Weipa , which is also the largest settlement on this road. From there it leads another 86 kilometers to the north and ends at Culleen Point , a cape on Port Musgrave .

The highest point on the highway is at 546 m, the lowest at 21 m.

From the Peninsula Developmental Road, many branch roads branch off to sheep breeding stations.
