The Morehead River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Queensland , in the Far North Queensland region on the Cape York Peninsula .
geography
River course
The river rises about 10 km east of the settlement of Killarney , about 180 km west of Cooktown and flows first to the north and then to the northeast. It passes under the Peninsula Developmental Road about 10 km west of the Mary Valley settlement and crosses the west of Lakefield National Park . Approx. 10 km west of Walkers Hill it flows into the North Kennedy River .
