Dekapitator is an American thrash metal band from San José , California that was formed in 1996.

history

The band was formed in 1996 by guitarist and vocalist Matt "Hellfiend" Harvey, bassist Dan Bulldoze and drummer Andy Maniac. In the winter of 1996/1997 the group recorded a split release with NunSlaughter and played appearances with bands such as Dark Funeral and Slough Feg . The band also performed at the San Bernardino Metalfest, where bands like The Haunted and The Ravenous also played. In 1999 the band recorded their debut album We Will Destroy… You Will Obey !!! with producer James Murphy . Shortly thereafter, Wes Blackwulf joined the line-up as the second guitarist, who would later be replaced by Brad Attitude. Attitude left the band again, so that the band was back to three. This was followed by performances in the San Francisco Bay Area , along with bands like Exodus and Thor . D. Attacker joined later as the new guitarist. The band began writing new material and continued to hold concerts. In 2007 the band completed the album The Storm Before the Calm and then added Jason "Hacksaw" as second guitarist. The group released the album on Relapse Records .

style

The band plays classic Thrash Metal, with the music particularly reminiscent of the early works of Exodus . Matt Harvey describes the music as a mix of German and Bay Area Thrash Metal , with Exodus' Bonded by Blood being his main influence. He himself describes the band's music as "Headsplitting Metal". Structurally, the songs are mostly based on classic heavy metal .
