Delany (Upper Lusatia)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Delany ( Sorbian for "Netherlands") is the common name for the lower, larger part of the former monastery care of St. Marienstern in Panschwitz-Kuckau . The area is located in the center of the Bautzen district along the monastery water in Upper Lusatia . It extends between the places Räckelwitz ( Worklecy ) in the south and Wittichenau ( Kulow ) in the north and is part of today's Sorbian core language area.

In contrast to the uplands around Crostwitz and Panschwitz, the Netherlands has sandy, less productive soils and a larger proportion of forest areas.

Other places in the Netherlands are Ralbitz , Rosenthal , Schönau and Sollschwitz . Between the 16th and 19th centuries, all of the places mentioned were subject to the lordship of the Marienstern Monastery for a long time and are therefore still Catholic today.
