Denis Godla (born April 4, 1995 in Kežmarok ) is a Slovak ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with Kalevan Pallo in the Liiga , the top Finnish division, since 2016 .

Career

Denis Godla started his career at MHK SkiPark Kežmarok , for whose U18 team he played in the second-highest Slovak U18 league. In 2010 he left his hometown at the foot of the High Tatras and joined the HK Spišská Nová Ves from the nearby capital of the Spiš . For the club he also played in the youth division, but was also used six times in the men's team in the first division , the second-highest division in Slovakia, in the 2012/13 season . After three years in Spišská Nová Ves, he moved to the capital to join the top club HC Slovan Bratislava , for whom he initially played in the U20 team. In the 2014/15 season he was also used four times in the Continental Hockey League . He was also used on loan four times at the ŠHK 37 Piešťany in the Slovak Extra League.

In 2015 he moved to the newly promoted Kokkolan Hermes in Finland, where he became the best goalkeeper in the league and a member of the All-Star team in his debut season. Because of these achievements, he was signed by Kalevan Pallo from the Liiga in the summer of 2016 , but will initially play for the second division club Iisalmen Peli-Karhut from September of that year . In the 2017/18 season he was KalPa goalkeeper.

International

Denis Godla represented his home country in the junior division at the U18 World Cup in 2013 and the U20 World Cup in 2015 when he won the bronze medal with the Slovak U20 team . He himself was voted the best goalkeeper, most valuable player and member of the All-Star Team.

He made his debut in the men's national team in the 2014/15 season .
