Denis Komivi Amuzu-Dzakpah (born October 10, 1943 in Kpogame Tahasi , Togo ) is a Togolese clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lomé .

Life

After attending primary schools in Tarasi and Tsévié , Amuzu-Dzakpah studied at St. Joseph's High School in Lomé from 1957 to 1965. From 1965 to 1972 he studied philosophy and Catholic theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome . He was ordained a priest on May 22, 1972, after which he was professor at St. Joseph de Lomé boarding school until 1978. Between 1978 and 1979 he was parish vicar in Aného .

He then studied until 1984 for a doctorate in philosophy at the University of Saint Paul in Ottawa , Canada . After his return to Togo, he was spiritual at the Major Seminary in Lomé until 1997 , General Secretary General of CERAO in Abidjan between 1992 and 1998 and then Dean and Vicar General in Lomé and Secretary of the Bishops' Conference until 2003 ; since 2003 Vicar General of Lomé.

On June 8, 2007 Amuzu-Szakpah was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Archbishop of Lomé to succeed Philippe Fanoko Kossi Kpodzro . On November 23, 2019, Pope Francis accepted Denis Komivi Amuzu-Dzakpah's resignation due to reasons of age.
