Denís Milar , full name Denís Alfredo Milar Otero , (born June 15, 1952 (according to other information: August 20, 1952) in Rocha ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Career

The 1.76 meter tall offensive player Milar was born in Barrio Cecilio Costa in Rocha as the second eldest of eight siblings and the eldest son of the family. After initially playing in the so-called baby fútbol at La Estiva , he joined the Club Nacional in Rocha at the age of eleven . As a 14-year-old, he moved up to replace injured players in the first team and made his debut in the Primera División in 1966, where he played two games. However, he then returned to the youth team. At the age of 16 he was part of the first team again. The 17-year-old Milar then switched to the Rampla Juniors . There he played until the age of 20. After he was set up as number 7 in the right wing position at the beginning of his career, the Montevidean coach used him both in a position shifted inside the field and as a central striker. Milar was in the first division squad of Liverpool Montevideo from 1973 to 1975 . In his first season at Liverpool Milar scored ten goals in the league, in the second he said he scored 16 times, other sources have 17 goals. That year he was second on the top scorer list behind Morena . In the third season at Liverpool he met again seven times. In 1974 he was runner-up in Uruguay with his team.
From Liverpool Montevideo, Milar's path led in February 1975 to Spain to FC Granada . There he signed a contract for three seasons. After returning to Uruguay in the meantime, Milar was active from July 1975 for the Spaniards in the seasons 1975/76 to 1977/78. His commitment was seen by the press before the start of the season as the most important reinforcement for the upcoming season. In Granada, he completed 21 matches and scored three goals in the debut season in which his employer was relegated to the second division. The following two second division seasons show him two games (no goal) and 16 games (one goal).
A station at Nacional Montevideo followed from 1979 to 1981 . With the Bolsos he won the Uruguayan championship and the Copa Libertadores in 1980 . However, he was not used in the finals of the latter competition. In the subsequent World Cup final against Nottingham Forest , which Nacional also won, Milar was on the starting grid. He chose his next career position in 1982 at Progreso . In the years 1984 to 1985 he was finally engaged at Universidad Católica de Quito in Ecuador .
Milar, who is the most successful soccer player of all time in Rocha, also participated in the OFI competitions . He played for the department selection of Rocha and was with this champion of the interior ( Campeón del Interior ). He succeeded in this in the Torneo de clubes also with Palermo from Rocha in 1989. In 1983, 1984 and 1988 he was with the department selection Campeón del Este . At club level, he won the latter title in 1987, 1988 and 1989.
National team
Milar was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 19 international matches between June 6, 1973 and September 26, 1979. He scored four international goals. Milar, who was used in the qualifying games for the World Cup as a left winger, took part with Uruguay in the 1974 World Cup. There he was used in all three group matches during the competition . At the Copa América 1979 he also worked on the Uruguayan side.
