Denis Valeryevich Denissow ( Russian Денис Валерьевич Денисов ; born December 31, 1981 in Kharkiv , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Denis Denissow began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the HK CSKA Moscow , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1997/98 season . After three long years at CSKA, the defender moved for the 2001/02 season to his city rival Krylya Sovetov Moscow . Previously, he had been selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the fifth round as a total of 149th player by the Buffalo Sabers , for which he however never played.
After the left shooter was on the ice for Salawat Yulayev Ufa in the 2002/03 season, he moved to Ak Bars Kazan , with whom he became Russian champions for the first time in the 2005/06 season . Following the season Denisov signed with their final opponents Avangard Omsk , spent for it for two more years in the Super League, before returning in summer 2008 in his hometown, where he from HC Dynamo Moscow of the newly formed Continental Hockey League is committed has been. In the same year he won the Spengler Cup with the capital city . After the ice hockey department of Dynamo Moscow merged with HK MWD Balaschicha to form OHK Dynamo , Denisov moved to SKA Saint Petersburg for the 2010/11 season within the KHL . With this he also won the Spengler Cup in 2010.
From July 2012, Denisov was back under contract with CSKA Moscow, where he was still one of the league's strongest defenders. He spent the 2017/18 season at HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , but was unable to convince there with only 10 points from 55 KHL games and was therefore released from the current contract in May 2018.
International
For Russia , Denisov took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 1999 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001 . He was also part of the Russia squad at the 2005 World Cup .
