Denis William Brogan
Sir Denis William Brogan (born August 11, 1900 in Glasgow , Scotland , † January 5, 1974 ) was a British writer and historian .
Life
Brogan studied at Glasgow, Oxford and Harvard and in 1934 became a member of the Academy of Corpus Christi College (Oxford) . From 1939 to 1968 he was Professor of Political Science at Cambridge . In 1963 he became Queen Elizabeth II. The Knights defeated. In 1955 he became a member ( fellow ) of the British Academy . In 1966 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and in 1971 to the American Philosophical Society .
Brogan achieved great fame among the British population as an interpreter of American history and politics.
He was the brother of the journalist Colm Brogan , married to the archaeologist Olwen Brogan and father of the historian Hugh Brogan .
