Deniss Pavlovs (born April 15, 1983 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a former Latvian tennis player .
Career
Pavlovs played on the ITF Junior Tour until 2001, where he was once in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament : in 2001 in Paris he was eliminated in the first round. In the junior ranking list, he was listed highest at 152nd place.
It took a while for the professionals to become more successful. In 2005 he won his first title on the third-rate ITF Future Tour in doubles. He had 31 titles in his entire career in doubles with Futures, his most successful year being in 2008 when he won eight titles. In contrast, there are four individual futures titles that he posted between 2007 and 2010. In 2007 he made it into the top 500 of the tennis world rankings for the first time . For the first time he was able to defeat a player with Joseph Sirianni at a tournament of the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour . In Samarqand he was the only time in the quarterfinals of a challenger. In 2008 he made it up to 350th place before he reached his career high of 263rd place in 2009. After that, he quickly lost ground and flew out of the top 500. In doubles he was able to achieve better results. Already in 2006 at the Challenger in Helsinki he reached the final with his compatriot Ernests Gulbis . A year later in Sarajevo he won his first challenger title with the same partner. After several semi-finals and the finals in Qarshi 2009 and Tampere 2010, his second and last challenger title followed in Samarqand . A little later in the year there was another final in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence . In mid-2009 he achieved his best placement in doubles with 155th place. He continued to play quite successfully in doubles until 2012 and stayed in the top 300 until the end of his career in 2012.
From 2001 Pavlovs played for the Latvian Davis Cup team , for which he won 17 of his 32 matches in 23 encounters. He received the Davis Cup Commitment Award for his achievements .
