The Dennes Point is a headland of dolerite in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Allan Hills , it juts out into the Shimmering Icefield on the west side of Shipton Ridge .
A team from the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program to explore the Allan Hills in 1964 named it after a corresponding dolerite formation on Bruny Island .
