Dennis S. Sands

Dennis S. Sands (* 20th century) is an American sound engineer .

Life

Sands began his television career in 1978. For his very first work, the television special Steve & Eydie Celebrate Irving Berlin , he won the Primetime Emmy . He made his feature film debut in 1979 with Rocky II . Sands, who has been involved in well over 300 films since then, received his first Oscar nomination for Best Sound in 1995 for Forrest Gump . Further nominations followed in 1998 (for Contact ), 2001 (for Cast Away - Verschollen ) and 2005 (for Der Polarexpress ). However, he has never won the award so far.

For his work as a sound engineer on the soundtrack for American Beauty , he and composer Thomas Newman and producer Bill Bernstein received a Grammy in 2001 in the category Best Score Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or other Visual Media .
