The department of Utracán is located in the center of the province of La Pampa in central Argentina and is one of 22 administrative units in the province.

It borders (starting in the northwest) clockwise with the departments Loventué , Toay , Atreucó , Guatrache , Hucal , Lihuel Calel ; Curacó and Limay Mahuida .

The capital of the department is General Acha .
