Deprea orinocensis is a plant type from the genus Deprea in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Deprea orinocensis grows as an herbaceous plant or weak shrub and reaches heights of up to 1.5 m. The twigs are downy-haired to tomentose with short, soft, simple trichomes that flatten and shrivel as they dry. The leaves are elliptical to ovate, usually 6 to 8 cm long and pointed or pointed towards the front, as well as pointed or blunt at the base, often oblique. The leaf blade is membranous, hairless on both sides and hairy only along the main veins. The leaf stalks are slender and up to 18 mm long.

The inflorescences are axillary, little-flowered clusters or single flowers. The flower stalks are thread- shaped , downy hairy and about 3 mm long at flowering time, on the fruit they extend to 5 to 7 mm. The calyx is 1 mm long, almost cut off and set with five only fine calyx teeth. The calyx on the fruit becomes egg-shaped, enlarges to 7 to 9 mm and loosely encloses the fruit. The crown is blackish purple, bell-shaped, hairy downy and lobed on almost half the length. The corolla lobes are blunt, the edges ciliate. The anthers are 1 mm long, oblong and slightly protrude from the crown.

The fruit is spherical and measures about 5 mm in diameter.

Occurrence

The species is distributed from central Colombia to the central Andean regions of Venezuela and is mostly found at high altitudes.
