action
Paris 1661: France is deeply shaken under the rule of King Louis XIV . Honorable men, headed by Interior Minister Colbert, want to make Ludwig's twin brother Philippe, the rightful heir to the throne, king. A plan that initially fails because of the machinations of Finance Minister Fouquet, who has Philippe veiled on the fortress on the island of St. Marguerite. But Colbert and D'Artagnan, the legendary musketeer, are able to free Philippe and bring him to Colbert's castle. Here he meets Ludwig, who is arrested and now learns the fate that he had intended for his brother Philippe. A thankless reign begins for Philippe, which is burdened with all of Louis' offenses. This film adaptation differs considerably from the Musketeer novel "Ten Years Later". In the novel, the former musketeers Aramis and Pothos want to replace Louis XIV with his twin brother Philippe. However, D'Artagnan thwarts their plans and brings Philippe back to his dungeon.
