The man without a shadow was a short-lived crime series that was produced for the German private television broadcaster RTL in the mid-1990s .

Crime producer Helmut Ringelmann ( Derrick , Siska , Der Alte , Der Kommissar ) worked for the first time with a private broadcaster on Der Mann ohne Schatten . To do this, he founded a new production company called “R. Productions ". Under the working title “The Samurai”, eight 75-minute episodes of this new crime series were initially filmed, which should stand out from all previous ones. The main characters are the Kuhlins: Igor and Irina are married, Bruno is Igor's brother. They solve the most difficult cases undercover for their client Ikarus.

Producer Ringelmann hired his Derrick and Der-Alte team here: Herbert Reinecker ( Derrick , Der Kommissar ), Paul Hengge (author of several Edgar Wallace films), Volker Vogeler ( Der Alte ), on the director's chair, were the authors took Franz Peter Wirth , Gero Erhardt , Dietrich Haugk , Jürgen Goslar , Zbyněk Brynych and Günter Gräwert place.

The episode “Idealisten” (No. 11) was Zbyněk Brynych's last directorial work before he died in the summer of 1995. After broadcasting the first season, RTL decided to broadcast the second, six episodes, straight away.
