The Name of the Rose (radio play)

The Name of the Rose is a German radio play based on the novel of the same name by Umberto Eco . It was produced in 1986 by BR together with NDR and SWF (today's SWR). The radio play originally comprised 4 parts (87'05 + 85'35 + 77'55 + 88'25) with a total running time of 339 minutes, but was partially broadcast in shortened versions or in 6 parts of approx. 54 minutes each. In 1995 the production appeared for the first time on 4 MCs or 6 CDs by DHV Der Hörverlag and has been reissued several times. Heinz Moog acts as the narrator in the role of old Adson von Melk, while Pinkas Braun plays the role of William von Baskerville . Other speakers are well-known actors such as Lukas Ammann , Rolf Boysen , Wolfgang Büttner , Paul Hoffmann , Manfred Steffen , Ernst Jacobi , Stefan Wigger , Wolfgang Reichmann and Richard Münch . Directed by Otto Düben .
