The devil possibly (Original title: Le diable probablement ) is a French film from 1976 . Directed by Robert Bresson .

The film is set in Paris in the 1970s and is about Charles, a twenty-year-old environmentalist who is beginning to despair of the world. He has a relationship with Alberte, but turns to Edwige a little later. Since he is unsatisfactory in this respect too, he seeks out a psychoanalyst who advises him to let a slave help him in suicide like the ancient Romans did. Finally, Charles is shot in the Pere Lachaise cemetery .
