occupation

The Invisible is a 1975 American series that is remotely based on the novel " The Invisible " by HG Wells . Due to a lack of audience ratings , it was dropped after only 13 episodes, although the special effects were very advanced for the time. The pilot film was shortened by 21 minutes from 70 to 49 minutes for the evening before broadcast on ARD, making it a normal series episode.

action

Doctor Daniel Westin is a gifted scientist who has managed to invent a means that can make objects and animals invisible . He must realize that the government wants to use his invention for military purposes. So he decides to keep the formula a secret. He memorises the formula, destroys it, including his laboratory, and escapes invisibly. However, due to unfortunate circumstances, it cannot become visible again. Doctor Maggio, a friend and plastic surgeon , helps him out by fitting him with a Dermaplex mask and gloves and a wig to hide Westin's invisibility.

Otherwise only his wife Kate knows about Daniel's attempts. She helps him find a cure.

After the pilot, the concept of the series changed. Now laboratory manager Walter Carlson discovered Daniel's secret. On his behalf, Daniel and Kate are now working on cases in which Westin's invisibility gives him a certain advantage. You become some kind of secret agent.

In the pilot, Westin is shown as a tragic figure (similar to Wells' novel), a victim of invisibility. This was seen as too cumbersome for the series, so it was laid out with more humor. In addition, Walter Carlson is portrayed by Jackie Cooper .
