Everything changes when the housekeeper of Röhrmoos, Leonhard's former employer, sends a letter in which she condemns him as the father of her single grandchild and asks the mayor to arrange for the alimony to be paid.

Agnes decides to investigate and concludes that the charge is true. Leonhard has to leave the farm. Agnes takes the child into the yard and wants to raise it. In the end everything will be fine because the child's mother just made it up.
