action

Benjamin Nickmüller works as a housekeeper in Alois Lauter's shoe store. In doing so, he often acts so idiotically that he does more harm than help. His supervisor is already thinking about throwing Benjamin out, when one day he reads in the newspaper that Benjamin is wanted by a notary, because his uncle, who has just blessed the time, left him a considerable sum of money. From now on, Lauter, who, as a shrewd businessman, smells the morning air, is like a different person. From now on, Benjamin is no longer the stupid lackluster with whom you can do everything. Rather, Nickmüller's superior is extremely polite and carries his subordinates on his hands. A ten-year employment contract is even drawn up. The shoe boss, however, had a clause built in with which he hopes to get Benjamin's intended inheritance.

Should the bumbling employee resign from the contract and terminate it on his own initiative, he has to pay his boss Lauter a fixed contractual penalty of 50,000 marks. Benjamin, who has not become suspicious of his superior's change of heart, is just as naive as he is clueless and signs the paper. So he takes over the uncle's heir in the amount of 272,000 marks and initially remains an employee of Mr. Lauter. In the evening he goes out on the slopes and made one break after the other, during the day Benjamin is as before the good little employee. Lauter's unfair intention to disgust Nickmüller from his employment does not work, Benjamin remains steadfast and can even beat Alois Lauter with his own means. So one day the shoe boss gives up and unceremoniously makes Benjamin Nickmüller his partner.
