The Dernbach is the 1.5 km long, right and southeastern source brook of the Bleidenbach and is sometimes seen as its tributary. It flows in the area of ​​the community of Weilmünster in the Hessian district of Limburg-Weilburg .

The Dernbach officially rises in the Hasselborn Hintertaunus at an altitude of 320  m above sea level. NHN in the hallway on the Hohlacker northeast of the Dernbach farm and a good eight hundred meters southeast of the Weilmünster district of Laubuseschbach . Its source is in a field at the northwestern foot of the Hasenberg ( 358  m ). An upper course, about half a kilometer long and only intermittently carrying water, rises in the hallway Im Hasenboden ( ).

The Dernbach initially flows in a north-westerly direction along the north-eastern foot of the Alteberg ( 360  m ). In the corridor in the Kesselweiher he walks through grassland past the Lindenhof, then changes in the corridor above in the Dernbach to the north-north-west and shortly afterwards again to the north-west. It now moves between the corridors Unter der Dernbach and Ober der Dernbach through a strip of green lined with deciduous forest to the right and left, turning more and more to the north. In the hallway in Oberau it now flows north through a grove of trees and disappears at the former pit Beautiful view in a Dole underground.

In this he reaches the southern edge of the village of Laubuseschbach and shortly thereafter comes to the surface again. It now turns to the northwest, then flows underground again and finally joins the Eschbach to the Bleidenbach west of the corner of Laubusstraße and Bachstraße at an altitude of about 263  m .

The Dernbach is a low mountain range, rich in coarse material and silicate. It drains over the Bleidenbach , the Weil , the Lahn and the Rhine into the North Sea . The difference in altitude from its source to its mouth is 57 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 38 ‰ over a length of 1.5 km.
