Dernell E. Every (born August 18, 1906 in Athens , New York , † September 11, 1994 in Mount Kisco ) was an American foil fencer .
Life
Dernell Every took part in three Olympic Games : In 1928 he was eliminated in Amsterdam in the second round of the individual competition, while he was fifth with the team. At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , he finished third with the team. With Hugh Alessandroni , George Calnan , Richard Steere , Joseph Levis and Frank Righeimer , he received the bronze medal. In 1948 , Every missed another medal win as fourth in the team competition.
He fought for Yale University and won the US championships three times. He was also active as a fencing official in the United States for several years.
