Desmond J. Bryant (* 15. December 1985 in Shorewood , Illinois ) is a former American American Footballer in the National Football League (NFL). He last played for the Cleveland Browns as a defensive end or defensive tackle . He was previously under contract with the Oakland Raiders .
college
Since Bryant showed great athletic talent both as a footballer and basketball player in high school , he had offers from several universities. He chose Harvard and played college football for their team, the Crimson, between 2003 and 2006 . In a total of 32 games he scored 66 tackles and 13.5 sacks .
NFL
Oakland Raiders
In the NFL Draft 2009 Bryant was not considered, but was then signed by the Oakland Raiders as a free agent . He made it into the team and was already featured in all 16 games in his rookie season, but it wasn't until 2011 that he started as a starter .
Cleveland Browns
In March 2013, Bryant signed with the Cleveland Browns a four-year contract for 34 million dollars and immediately received a fixed place in the defensive line. After 12 games, his first season with the new team was over due to cardiac arrhythmias . He missed the 2016 season entirely because of a torn muscle fiber . The Browns fired him in late August 2017.
