Detlef Hiller

Detlef Hiller (* 1964 ) is a German theologian , political scientist , educator , professor for international social work at the International University of Liebenzell and head of the LIMRIS institute there.

Life

Detlef Hiller completed a master’s degree in political science from 1985 to 1991 at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . After that he was head of division for Asia and Eastern Europe at Kindernothilfe eV in Duisburg until 2005 , where he was able to gain experience in international development cooperation through intensive contacts with partners in Pakistan. From 1996 onwards he studied educational science at the University of Hagen , which he completed in 2001 with a master’s degree. From 2005 to 2010 he studied Protestant theology at the Church University in Wuppertal . There he went on to do a doctorate, which he completed in 2014 with his dissertation on The New Pakistani Christianity. The "charismatization" of the understanding and practice of faith of Pakistani Christians based on the meaning of "healing and deliverance" to the Dr. theol. completed.

At the International University of Liebenzell he has been Professor of International Social Work with a focus on intercultural pedagogy and development cooperation since 2015, since 2016 course director for BA Theology / Social Work in an Intercultural Context and since 2018 director of the LIMRIS Institute of the IHL.

His main research interests are Pentecostal theology; Healing and deliverance; Participatory approaches in development cooperation; Vocational pedagogical approaches in an intercultural setting.

From 1997 Hiller worked marginally and since 2005 part-time as a pedagogical supervisor in child and youth welfare in Essen. Since 2005 he has been working as a freelance coach and consultant for organizational consulting, humanitarian aid and development cooperation.

Together with his wife Regina (psychologist), he set up the therapeutic and educational center "Villa Löwenherz" in 2013/2014, a fully inpatient facility for child and youth welfare in Dortmund and, since 2018, in Schwerte, where severely traumatized children are treated therapeutically and be supported pedagogically. The couple have eight foster children and live in Essen.
