Detlef Oels

Detlef Oels (born February 4, 1965 in Hamburg , nickname: Mr. Fifty ) is a German musician , composer and music producer . He plays guitar, keyboard , violin, accordion and also works as a singer.

Live and act

During his school days at the Bramfeld grammar school , Oels received violin and piano lessons. After graduating from high school and doing community service , he studied school music at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg . He then began working as a composer for radio play music for the record publisher Europa . This opportunity presented itself to him when the co-founder of the publishing house and musicologist Andreas Beurmann and his wife Heikedine Körting , a radio play producer, became aware of him during their studies. From 1985 to 1990 he composed well over 100 pieces of music for the radio play series TKKG , Die drei ??? , Five friends , barbie and others.

A large number of his compositions were published in the early years under his birth name Detlef Kuntke .

As a producer he is best known for his work with the group Norbert und die Feiglinge . He became aware of the group in 1989 as a co-owner of a recording studio and his own record label. Among other things, he produced their greatest success, the song Manta , which reached number 7 in the German charts in 1990. For the film Manta - The Film , he was the producer of a remix version of the title Manta .

In 2008 he and two other musicians founded the group Big Maggas , in which he is still active as a keyboardist and singer. In 2013, on the occasion of the Cologne Carnival, he recorded the song Karneval in Kölle with the Big Maggas , produced by Mickie Krause .

In addition to working as an instrumentalist and singer in various bands, Detlef Oels also composes and produces music for computer games and plays, including music for the computer game Dime City . The composition of new songs for a theatrical version based on motifs from the book The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling was done in collaboration with Norbert Bohnsack, who wrote the lyrics of the songs. There has been regular collaboration with him since Detlef Oels worked as a producer for Norbert und die Feiglinge . The play was performed at Christmas in 2012 and 2013 in the Hamburg-Harburg and Altonaer theaters in Hamburg.

Detlef Oels currently resides in Berlin.
