Detlef Schmidt , pseudonym: Hinnerk , (born March 26, 1945 in Wismar ; † September 30, 2018 ) was a local researcher from Wismar and author of regional history contributions.

Life

Detlef Schmidt was born the son of a master painter. After attending school in Wismar, he completed an apprenticeship as an electrician. After qualifying, he worked in management positions in various companies. He completed a distance learning course in the field of administrative and constitutional law with a degree in administrative management (FH).

From 1982 to 1990, at that time a member of the LDPD , he was district branch manager of the Rostock Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the Bad Doberan , Wismar and Grevesmühlen districts . From January 1, 1990, he was Wismar's first press officer, then until 1991 administrative clerk. Since September 1, 1991 he has been working as a freelance in the field of media and marketing consulting. From 1994 to 1995 he was director of the Hotel Stadt Hamburg in Wismar, from 1995 to 1996 advertising manager at the Mecklenburger Nachrichten and from 1999 to 2003 managing director of the DRK Wismar.

He is one of the founding members of the Wismar Economic Community and was its first honorary managing director from 1991 to 1997, then regional director of the Mecklenburg-Schwerin employers' association and from 1999 to 2003 member of the presidium of the Mecklenburg Association. Since 1975 he has worked with experts and laypeople in a group called “Monument Preservation”, which campaigned for the preservation of buildings threatened by decay. At the request of the district organization of the Wismar Cultural Association , in 1983 he worked as a volunteer construction manager with five specialists to restore the medieval water gate at the port.

On January 1, 2003, he retired due to illness and devoted himself increasingly to regional history . Regular historical contributions in the regional media and publications in cooperation with the bookstore Hugendubel in Wismar are the result. He was a founding member and board member of the Wismar Community Foundation and an honorary member of the Association of Friends of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival , of which he was a member of the board for many years. As a member of the Masonic Lodge Zur Vaterlandsliebe he felt connected to Freemasonry , whose ethical, humanistic and tolerant worldview he shared. He belonged to numerous clubs and associations in the Hanseatic City of Wismar and was involved here with great commitment and was a member of the “Friends and Sponsors of the Archives of the Hanseatic City of Wismar e. V. “Since May 1, 2015, he has taken on the voluntary role of patient advocate at the Sana Clinics in the Hanse Clinic in Wismar .

On August 27, 2014 he received the culture award of the Northwest Mecklenburg district. The Ring of Honor of the Hanseatic City of Wismar was ceremoniously presented to him on March 17th, 2015. It is the second highest honor awarded by the Hanseatic City of Wismar.

Detlef Schmidt was married to Rose-Marie Schmidt since 1966. The couple have two daughters.

Publications

In the mid-1970s, Schmidt first published his first articles on regional history, which were printed in the Rostock district . Since then, his contributions to regional history have appeared regularly in regional newspapers. Since 2002, he has regularly published Low German columns under the pseudonym "Hinnerk" in the Ostsee-Zeitung Wismar. He was co-author of the 1988 yearbook of shipping on the maritime past of the city of Wismar, the magazine "Architektur der DDR" (1984) on the re-establishment of the water gate and the archive series "Wismar Contributions" on Wismar's street names (1983). He also worked on the festschrift for the 775th anniversary of Wismar in 2004 with his own contribution. In addition, there are stories in the books "Wismarer Kriminalbuch" and "Wismarer Stadtrechner". In the Wismar newspaper, which has been published since 2009, a bi-weekly historical article on the history of the Hanseatic city of Wismar was published. He was also a co-author of the 2011 yearbook “Neue Stadtbaukultur” published by Stadtbild Deutschland e. V.
