Detlev von Uslar

Detlev von Uslar (* 17th March 1926 in Hamburg ) is a German philosopher and psychologist and emeritus professor of psychology and philosophical foundations of psychology at the University of Zurich .

Life

Detlev von Uslar spent his childhood in Hamburg and from 1932 in Schwerin in Mecklenburg , where he attended the Fridericianum from 1935 to 1943 . After military service and Soviet imprisonment, he studied philosophy with Nicolai Hartmann and theology with Friedrich Gogarten in Göttingen from 1946 to 1950 , then until 1953 in Freiburg im Breisgau philosophy with Martin Heidegger and Wilhelm Szilasi as well as psychology with Robert Heiß and Hans Bender . In 1953 he received his doctorate in philosophy on the subject of "The essence of encounter". In the same year he married Else Möss, with whom he had three daughters. In 1960 he made a diploma in psychology.

From 1962 to 1966 he earned his living as a traffic psychological expert at the medical-psychological institute for traffic and industry in Freiburg im Breisgau. At the same time he researched the psychology of dreams, about which he published his first book in 1964. In 1967 he was appointed to the University of Zurich, where he was professor for psychology and the philosophical foundations of psychology until 1994. At the same time he was head of the department for anthropological psychology. He has guided large numbers of students through the course. He also held regular lectures at the University of Applied Psychology and the CG Jung Institute and was an advisory member of various supervisory bodies. In 1987 he was appointed by Dr. Margrit Egnér Foundation honored. Since his retirement, von Uslar has continued to give lectures at the University of Zurich.

In his research and teaching activities, Detlev von Uslar dealt with numerous topics, with dream and dream interpretation , encounter and relationship, body and organism, history of philosophical psychology, psychology of art and architecture , psychology of expression , depth psychology , psychology of the situation, role of interpretation in psychology and graphology .
