Detmar Heinrich Sarnetzki

Detmar Heinrich Sarnetzki (born November 26, 1878 in Bremen ; † August 24, 1961 there ) was a German journalist and writer .

Life

Detmar Heinrich Sarnetzki began his journalistic career as a trainee at the “ Bremer Tageblatt ”. In 1903 he went to Cologne and worked there for the next four decades in the editorial department of the " Kölnische Zeitung ", initially as an art and literary critic , from 1913 as head of the feature pages . After initially living in Cologne, he later settled in Refrath . Sarnetzki was considered one of the most influential critics of the Rhineland . He was also active in literature himself, was one of the founders of the “ Bund Rheinischer Dichter ” in the 1920s and supported authors such as Wilhelm Schmidtbonn and Clara Viebig .

In 1943 Detmar Heinrich Sarnetzki, despite his national-conservative attitude, was removed from his position at the Kölnische Zeitung by the National Socialists and was banned from writing because he refused to part with his Jewish wife .

Detmar Heinrich Sarnetzki wrote narrative works , including the successful novel “Die Pfeifer von Altensande”, poems and plays ; in addition, he published anthologies with sagas from Cologne and texts by Rhenish authors. Since the twenties he belonged to the " Literary Society Cologne " (from 1930 as chairman) and Cologne Bibliophile Society.
