history
Deuben is a Slavic foundation. In 1359 the village was sold to the diocese of Meißen , previously it had belonged to the Knights of Brandis. After the Reformation it remained part of the Wurzen monastery property. In 1818 the school was built, which was later rebuilt and expanded several times. On July 1, 1948, Deuben was incorporated into Bennewitz, on July 1, 1950, to Wurzen, and on March 1, 1974, it was reclassified to Bennewitz.
After the reunification, the school building was used as a primary school for all children in the Bennewitz community from 1st to 4th grade. When the Mulde floods in 2002 , the school barrack was badly damaged, but thanks to the large amount of donations it was able to be rebuilt. The primary school has been in Bennewitz since 2006. The former primary school is now home to the mail service and the branch of the "Zwergenland" Bennewitz kindergarten.
