The Deutsche Bank Investment Banking Center Frankfurt (IBCF) was a 93 meter high skyscraper in the Große Gallusstrasse (house number 10-14) in the city center of Frankfurt am Main and served as the center for the investment banking division of Deutsche Bank . It was built in 1969–71 based on a design by the architect F. Wilhelm Simon and was one of the few high-rise buildings of this generation that has remained largely unchanged since then. After Deutsche Bank sold the skyscraper and the surrounding land (the Deutsche Bank triangle ) in 2015, the skyscraper was demolished between April and October 2018 as part of the redevelopment of the area. It is to be replaced by several towers from the Four project ; completion is planned for 2023 .
architecture
The building stood on an elongated, rectangular parcel with a north-east-south-west orientation. The majority of the built-up area was made up of an elongated, seven-story wing in the southwest. A slightly lower, mostly glazed annex connected to this in the northern courtyard. In the north-east of the parcel there was a 21-story skyscraper , also on a rectangular floor plan, but in the same alignment as the main building with Grosse Gallusstrasse .
The uniform design of the side wing and high-rise building was shaped by the later phase of the international style . Each floor had all-round ribbon windows ; the small parapet areas as well as a part of the lower annex building in the south-west that was cut out by the curtain wall were clad with dark natural stone. The curtain wall was made of dark brown steel, which realized horizontally surrounding balconies with parapets and vertically faded poles.
Trivia
- In 2017, the skyscraper was the setting for the 1076th crime scene episode “The Tower” .
