from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The German women's field handball championship in 1938/39 was the sixth German women's field handball championship organized by the German Reich Committee for Physical Exercise (DRL) . This year's championship took place again in the knockout system between the masters of the Gauligen , which had risen to 17 after the annexation of Austria . Due to the odd number of qualified teams, the Gau winners from East Prussia and Pomerania had to play an elimination game. Last year's finalist VfR Mannheim won the final held on July 2, 1939 in Duisburg against the three-time women's field handball champion Eimsbütteler TV 7: 5 and thus secured his first German women's handball championship after four lost finals.
