The German Society for Legislation is a non-profit association . It was entered in the register of associations in Bonn on October 15, 1987 .

Purpose of the association

Purpose is to promote the legislation concerned scientific disciplines, improve the practical regulation and the promotion of the general understanding of issues and problems of legislation.

The purpose of the statutes is to be realized in particular through

  • the clarification of scientific and practical questions of lawmaking, especially with the aim of a practical support function;
  • support for studies of the legal, methodological , procedural and technical problems of the legislations in federal , countries and communities and the social effects of legal settlements;
  • the publication and journalistic dissemination of practical and scientific knowledge in the field of lawmaking without restriction to a specific discipline;
  • working towards greater consideration of legislative theory in research , universities and further education ;
  • the promotion of working contacts among the members of the society, especially through discussion in the general meetings ;
  • Participation in the national and international further development of legislative theory and cooperation, especially with comparable associations abroad .

Awarded the Good Legislation Award

The DGG awards prizes for outstanding examples of good legislative work. The first prize in 2014 z. B. went to the model law for intellectual property .
