German Society for Folklore

The German Society for Folklore (dgv) is a scientific society and acts as the umbrella organization of folklore institutions in the German-speaking area and as an association of folklore experts in the Federal Republic of Germany. It was founded in 1963 and continues the work of the Association of Folklore Associations founded in the German Empire in 1904 . The seat and office of the association is in Marburg .

The society gives the magazine for folklore as well as the dgv information. Announcements of the German Society for Folklore and organizes scientific conferences and student meetings.
