aims

The umbrella organization is the point of contact for politics and society so that “housekeeping speaks with one voice”. The Housekeeping Council advocates the "presentation of the central importance of housekeeping for society and sustainable, quality-oriented domestic care and support for the population".

The objectives of the Housekeeping Council's work are:

  • The social recognition and upgrading of the SAHGE professions (social work, housekeeping, health, education)
  • The improvement of multi-professional collaboration in social institutions
  • The recognition of domestic skilled workers in quality requirements and skilled worker quotas
  • The promotion of household services through state-subsidized vouchers
  • Convince MPs in the new Bundestag of the added value of housekeeping

As part of the Concerted Care Campaign , the German Housekeeping Council has been working with the Federal Ministry of Health since 2019 "on proposals as to how skilled domestic workers can be more closely involved in the domestic care of those in need of care".

Actions / opinions

  • Housekeeping in long-term care insurance : Not only care, but also housekeeping services are necessary to help those in need of care. “There are many domestic service providers available to enable people in their private households to lead a self-determined life. However, with the current regulations, many hurdles have been set up for these services in order to be able to bill services with long-term care insurance. This means that household-related services often become self-pay services. ”This is where obstacles need to be removed. In addition, housekeeping should be more closely involved in the development of guidelines for quality testing by the medical services . The housekeeping council on the MDK exams in retirement homes : “Stand by what you do!” The visit of the MDK team is “an opportunity for the profession to distinguish itself”.
  • The Housekeeping Council considers it imperative to develop both an educational concept and a housekeeping concept for quality standards for day-care centers .
  • German Housekeeping Council and German Society for Housekeeping present the Memorandum Empowerment for Private Households as the basic units of our society.
  • For Housekeeping Day on March 21, 2018, the German Housekeeping Council issued the rather political motto: There is no or fits between house and economy . On the occasion of World House Economics Day, the Housekeeping Council made a mailing campaign in which all housekeeping professionals could participate.
  • On August 16, 2018, the German Housekeeping Council took a position on the draft law for faster appointments and better care in connection with long-term care insurance benefits . The housekeeping professions are also required to be recognized as responsible specialists . In addition, there have been bad experiences with a strict separation between social care, domestic care and domestic care services. Many people in need of care want to be able to combine care services so that they meet their everyday needs.
  • On November 4, 2018, the Housekeeping Council published a statement on the draft law submitted by Federal Family Minister Franziska Giffey ( SPD ) for the further development of quality and participation in day care (good day care law).
  • The German Housekeeping Council is involved in the deliberations on the Concerted Care Action (KAP). In the chapter with “Help with housekeeping and meeting demand” of the KAP it is formulated: “The need for long-term care often begins with a need for support in the area of domestic care. It is therefore of great importance for the care, but also for the further course of the need for care, that this need for support is covered comprehensively and professionally. "
  • On September 23rd and 24th, the German Housekeeping Council is organizing the Housekeeping Congress 2019 under the motto: "Make change sustainable".
  • Germs, viruses and bacteria don't just have to be kept in check in times of the COVID-19 pandemic . In March 2020, the German Housekeeping Council therefore calls for "forward-looking action and lower personnel limits for housekeeping as well. Because qualified staff can help to reduce the risk of infection over the long term."
