history

In 1987 the German Maritime Sports Association of the GDR was founded in Strausberg near Berlin under the umbrella of the Society for Sport and Technology , which dealt with training and competition in maritime sports all- around . In 1990 the association gave itself its current name and elected Jörg Wenke as president. André Seidel is currently President of the DSSV.

Competitions

The women of the DSSV national team pose at the Krabat Cup in Knappenrode (near Hoyerswerda ) in 2004 .

Every year the DSSV conducts more than 70 competitions at various levels. The age spectrum of the participants ranges from eight to over 60 years. The sports regulations for maritime sports of the DSSV are decisive , in which the competition regulations, the competition rules of the disciplines, the provisions on boat technology, the evaluation rules and the legal system are summarized. The assessment is based on a point system. For all events, with the cutter ZK-10 is class rules binding; the sails must be measured and a minimum of life-saving equipment must be carried. In the sailing, running and swimming disciplines, the rules of the national and international sports associations are applied.

Every year, the DSSV organizes open German championships in cutter rowing , cutter sailing , sea sports all-around and Ixylon all-around . Traditionally, there is also a competition for the title of German winter champion in the sea sports land disciplines .

One of the big class sailing regattas in Germany has been the struggle for the Blue Ribbon from Strelasund in Stralsund for decades , on the first weekend in August with almost a hundred ZK-10 and K-10 cutters. After reunification, the slightly larger and more sluggish naval cutters with crews from the German Navy , the Federal Police , the Kiel Fire Brigade , etc. were added as a further class from the old federal states . The traditional event during the Kiel Week is also one of the major cutter sailing regattas .
