The ZK10 is a cutter of the former Society for Sport and Technology , Section Sea Sports . Over 300 boats were manufactured in the Berlin yacht yard and the Rechlin shipyard , initially from wood, later also from GRP . The cutters are rowed or sailed.

The ZK10 is an open sword boat with a transom . It is 7.50 m long and 2.15 m wide. When rowing he can with ten belts are driven. He has a ketch rig for sailing . The total height of the rigging up to the gaff top is 7 m. The cutter's sails consist of the jib and the steep gaff rigged mainsail and mizzen sail . The total sail area upwind is almost 23 m². The ZK10 can also be sailed with a spinnaker .

Today the cutter is mostly used by young people as part of youth work in sailing clubs. There are regattas sailed and weekend and holiday tours. The crew consists of at least six people, which clearly distinguishes the ZK10 from other boat classes of this size. ZK10 cutters have also sailed on the Friends-Ships-Voyage (Baltic Sea crossing), which in 1998 went over 300 nm.

After a break of more than ten years, the ZK10 has been built on Rügen by Wieker Boote GmbH since 2000. It is manufactured on the basis of the class regulations of the German Sea Sports Association , is CE-certified and can be provided with a corresponding measurement certificate .

The German Navy took over several ZK10s from the Volksmarine and uses them in parallel to the West German counterpart of the type marine cutter K II K for coastal training and as a leisure activity for navy students.
