Three Dog Night was an American rock band and was active in the original line-up from 1968 to 1976.
history
The group had seven members, including three singers and two keyboard players. The band was promoted by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys . The group was originally called Redwood , but renamed itself because they had read in an article that Australian Aborigines slept with their dogs on cold nights; on particularly cold nights they needed three dogs to keep warm.
Three Dog Night achieved 19 gold records and two platinum records for music sales in the United States . She had 21 top 40 hits.
She sang songs by Randy Newman (Mama Told Me Not to Come) , Laura Nyro (Eli's Coming) , Hoyt Axton (Joy to the World, Never Been to Spain) , Elton John & Bernie Taupin (Lady Samantha) , John Lennon and Paul McCartney (It's for You) , Leo Sayer (The Show Must Go On) and Harry Nilsson (One) . A great success for the band was the interpretation of the hair classic Easy to Be Hard .
In the mid-1980s, the group reappeared, and in 2006 they even went on tour. From the original members there were two singers (Cory Wells and Danny Hutton), a keyboardist (Jimmy Greenspoon) and a guitarist (Michael Allsup) on stage. They were supplemented by a new bassist (Paul Kingery) and a new drummer (Pat Bautz).
Keyboardist Jimmy Greenspoon died of cancer on March 11, 2015 at the age of 67. That same year, 73-year-old singer Cory Wells followed him on October 20 in Dunkirk , New York .
