German sport climbing cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Sport Climbing Cup is a series of competitions in lead climbing for German sport climbers. The best placed each year qualify for the German championship.

history

Held for the first time in 1991, the German Sport Climbing Cup initially took place in five cities. The DAV (German Alpine Association) as the sponsor of the competitions carried out the events in Rosenheim, Bayreuth, Dresden, Hildesheim and Cologne. In the following years the number of competitions fluctuated continuously between two and four. In 1994 the German Sport Climbing Cup took place under a different name: The Germany Cup consisted of seven competitions. But in the following year it again bore the familiar title.

mode

Until 2008, the German Sport Climbing Cup consisted of a qualification, a semi-final and a final route, all three of which were climbed in On Sight mode. Since 2008, the German Sport Climbing Cup has been climbing two qualification routes for women and men, in which the best eight climbers can qualify for the final. In contrast to the preliminary rounds, in which a pre-climber shows the route and the athletes are allowed to observe each other ( flash mode), in the final the remaining starters are in isolation after the route inspection ( on sight mode). The aim is to achieve the greatest possible tension and equal opportunities.
