Diabulus in Musica is a Spanish symphonic metal band formed in 2006 in Pamplona ( Navarra ) by Zuberoa Aznárez, Gorka Elso, Adrián Vallejo and Jorge Arca.

Band history

In 2006 singer Zuberoa Aznárez, keyboardist Gorka Elso and bassist Jorge Arca from the band Dragon Lord founded the band in Pamplona ( Navarra ). The line-up is completed by guitarist Adrián M. Vallejo and drummer Xabier Jareño. Before the first demo recordings , Arca gets out. Adrián M. Vallejo then played both the bass and the guitars on the demo EP Secrets (2009). After a few gigs without a bass player, Alejandro "Alex" Sanz finally joins the band.

On May 21, 2010 the debut album Secrets will be released on the Metal Blade Records label . For the album, the band worked with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra , the RTV Orchestra, the Spanish National Choir and the Ensemble Nova Lux. The band subsequently played as the opening act for Manowar and the Theater of Tragedy .

On February 29, 2012, The Wanderer, the second studio album by Diabulus in Musica, was released on the Napalm Records label . Mark Jansen from Epica is featured on the album as a star guest .

Band name

The name is based on the Latin name for the tritone , which was mainly used in the Middle Ages. The term literally means devil in music and is sometimes translated as devil interval. Singer Zuberoa Aznárez chose the name to express her attachment to classical music .

Music genre

Diabulus in Musica plays Symphonic Power Metal, which has been supplemented by many classical elements such as soprano singing , violin and choirs. Characteristic is the change in the style of Theater of Tragedy between Aznárez 'clear singing, which partly also includes operetta , and Vallejo's screams and growls .
