Diana King (born November 8, 1970 in Spanish Town , Jamaica ) is a Jamaican singer.

Life

Diana King was born as one of 15 children in Spanish Town , near Kingston , and grew up on Hope Road in Kingston, in the neighborhood of reggae legend Bob Marley . As a friend of Cedella and Sharon Marley, she was a regular guest at the Marley house and came into contact with the music business at a very young age. After her contribution to Stir It Up , the record label Sony became aware of the singer with the unmistakable voice and signed her.

With Shy Guy , known from the soundtrack to the film Bad Boys , she entered the charts worldwide for the first time . She later had another hit with her cover of I Say a Little Prayer , soundtrack to My Best Friend's Wedding . 1997 it reached Album Think Like a Girl in the US Top Reggae Albums charts of Billboard space first

King came out as a lesbian in 2012. This makes her the only prominent person in Jamaica to be outed as gay. She has been in a relationship with Mijanne Webster since 2007, who she married in January 2018.
