Eberhard Kranemann

Eberhard Kranemann (born March 7, 1945 in Wismar ) is a German artist and musician . He was one of the founding members of the Kraftwerk electropop group .

Life

Eberhard Kranemann grew up in Dortmund , received double bass training at the Dortmund Conservatory and, after graduating from high school, studied painting , graphics , art history , philosophy and pedagogy with first and second state exams at the Düsseldorf Art Academy .

In 1971, at the suggestion of Rupprecht Geiger , Eduard Trier made Kranemann a master class student at the State Art Academy in Düsseldorf . He has been a freelance artist and musician since 1967. In parallel to his experiments with color tones in abstract painting, he experimented with tone colors in music.

In 1967 he founded the experimental music group Pissoff and was their bassist until 1969. Shortly thereafter, he became a member of Kraftwerk, where Kranemann played the cello, Hawaiian guitar and bass from 1970–1971 . Also in the group Neu! Which was founded by Kraftwerk members in 1972 . Kranemann was there as bassist and Hawaiian guitarist.

In 1973 he started the multimedia project "Fritz Müller Rock" with Conny Plank . Numerous CD productions, concerts, exhibitions at home and abroad followed, including performances and collaborations with Joseph Beuys , AR Penck , Faust , Yoichiro Kita, Yukino Nono, Nurse with Wound , Critical Art Ensemble ( Documenta Kassel), Paul Amlehn (Sound Art World, Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg), Philip Glass Ensemble, Kronos Quartet , Brian Eno , David Bowie , Laurie Anderson , John Zorn , Lou Reed .
