Dianne Fromholtz Balestrat (born August 10, 1956 as Dianne Fromholtz in Albury , New South Wales ) is a former Australian tennis player .

Career

Balestrat started playing tennis at the age of seven. At 16, she left school to take part in international tournaments. In 1973 she began her professional career on the WTA Tour . In January 1977 she made it to the final of the Australian Open , where she lost 2: 6, 5: 7 to Kerry Reid . She reached the semifinals of the French Open in 1979 and 1980 and the US Open in 1976 . In 1979 she was now number 4 in the world.

Her greatest success, however, was the double title in 1977 at the Australian Open at the side of Helen Gourlay . You defeated Betsy Nagelsen and Kerry Reid in three sets in the final .

In 1974 Balestrat won the team competition with the Australian Fed Cup team against the United States .

In December 1982 she married Claude Balestrat in Dural .
