Dianne Doan

Dianne Doan (born September 8, 1990 in Abbotsford ) is a Canadian actress .

biography

Doan grew up in Abbotsford. Her parents were of Vietnamese descent. Her grandmother is half a Chinese , making Doan an eighth Chinese.

She developed her interest in acting from year 9 when she took theater lessons as an elective. As a young adult she performed as a dancer at the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and as a background dancer for Michael Bublé . She has also worked as a dancer in music videos for artists such as Big Time Rush and Mariana's Trench, and on CTV's show So You Think You Can Dance Canada .

While making small appearances on shows like ABC's Once Upon a Time and TV Lands Impastor , her big break came when she appeared on Disney Channel for the television movie Descendants as Lonnie, the daughter of Mulan and Li Shang , was occupied. Disney's Descendants expanded into a successful franchise with a prequel live-action mini-series (that ran before the first film), a sequel, and an animated spin-off.

In 2016, she was cast as Yidu for season four in a major, recurring role on History Channels Vikings . She then played a major role in the web series Guidance , where she played twin sisters.

In 2017 she starred in Cinemax ' Warrior as Mai Ling. The series was produced by Justin Lin , based on a concept by Bruce Lee .
