Dianne van Giersbergen
Dianne van Giersbergen (born June 3, 1985 in Liempde ) is a Dutch singer . She is the lead singer of the Dutch metal band Ex Libris and was with the German symphonic metal band Xandria until September 2017 . Your voice is soprano .
biography
Musical career
On her fourth birthday, she received her first singing lessons from her parents . In the following years she took lessons from various teachers and also sang in choirs . In 2005 she began to study classical music at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem . She took classical singing lessons and received lessons in music theater , among other things . She graduated with honors on May 19, 2009, after which she decided to continue her studies and work on her master's degree.
Meanwhile, she expanded her singing technique and began to combine her classical background with metal music; Her thesis also dealt with this topic. In addition, she studied composition , wrote poetry, and chaired a group of Masters students who organized classical concerts.

In 2004 van Giersbergen founded the Dutch progressive metal band Ex Libris, of which she is the lead singer. In 2008 the album Amygdala was released ; on January 18, 2014, the second album Medea was released.
Xandria
On October 25, 2013 van Giersbergen was introduced as the new singer of the German symphonic metal band Xandria. On November 28th 2013 she gave her first concert with Xandria in Madrid . The album Sacrificium was released on May 2, 2014. On this album she was also involved as a songwriter ; she wrote the lyrics for two songs ( Little Red Relish and Sweet Atonement ). The EP Fire & Ashes was released on July 31, 2015. Here, too, she was involved in the songwriting of two songs ( Voyage of the Fallen and In Remembrance ). Their second album with the band (Theater of Dimensions) was released on January 27, 2017.
She left the band on September 13, 2017. Among other things, she stated that her health was not taken seriously by her band members.

In addition to her work in various bands, van Giersbergen is also active as a singing teacher .
Her musical influences are in symphonic metal bands like Nightwish and ReVamp . She also counts Tarja Turunen and Anneke van Giersbergen among her influences, as well as musicians from outside the genre such as Herman van Veen , Lana Del Rey , Meat Loaf and Dire Straits .
She is not related to the Dutch singer Anneke van Giersbergen.
