Dibrugarh ( Assamese ডিব্ৰুগড় Ḍibrugaṛ ) is a city in the state of Assam in eastern India . Dibrugarh is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city is located on the south bank of the Brahmaputra . The Dihing River flows westward 15 km south of Dibrugarh. The national highway NH 37 ( Sivasagar - Tinsukia ) runs through the city. Dibrugarh Airport is to the east of the city.

As a city, Dibrugarh has the status of a Municipal Board and had just under 140,000 inhabitants at the 2011 census.
