The Dihing (also Burhi Dihing ) is a left tributary of the Brahmaputra in the Indian states of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam .

The Dihing rises in the Patkai Mountains not far from the border with Myanmar . From there it flows in a northeasterly direction through the Changlang district . At Jairampur he turns north and reaches the lowlands of Assam . He picks up the namphuk from the right. In Assam the Dihing turns to the southwest. The Tirap flows into the river on the left. 11 km downstream, the Dihing passes the town of Margherita . The Dihing then meanders west through the lowlands and finally reaches the south bank of the Brahmaputra 36 km southwest of Dibrugarh . The Dihing has a length of 362 km. Its catchment area covers 8473 km².
