Dick Vitale
Richard John "Dick" Vitale (born June 9, 1939 in Passaic , New Jersey ), called "Dickie V", is an American sports reporter and former basketball coach . Since 1979 he has been commenting on the basketball games of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for the broadcaster ESPN .
Before his career as a commentator, he was brief coach, including the University of Detroit (1973-77) and the Detroit Pistons (78/79 season) in the NBA . Vitale now has almost legendary status as a sports reporter and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008 for his services to the sport .
