Location of Dickenreishausen in Memmingen

Dickenreishausen is a southern district of the city of Memmingen in Upper Swabia .

location

Dickenreishausen is located southwest of the core town of Memmingen on the west side of the Buxach valley.

Place name

The place was first mentioned in 1126 as Hausen . In contrast to places of the same name, however, it was already called Dickerlishausen in the Middle Ages , probably after the hamlet of Dickenreis , which lies in front of the place.

history

A Roman settlement with a brick kiln was exposed in 1990 by a wind break.

The village of Hausen was first mentioned in 1126 when Emma von Wildberg bequeathed some farms to the newly founded Premonstratensian monastery Rot an der Rot . The church was first mentioned in 1168 when a relic was donated by the Ottobeurer Abbot Isengrim . In 1334 the lords of Altmannshofen sold farms to Memmingen patricians . Around 1401 the Rot monastery sold its farms. The Knights of Eisenburg sold their patronage rights to the merchant Kunzelmann von Memmingen. From 1472 onwards, the whole place came to the municipal Unterhospitalstiftung . The peasants of the village did not take part in the Peasants' War in 1525 , after they had spoken to the town council as being “reasonable and friendly”. By belonging to Memmingen, the village became Protestant during the Reformation in 1532. On Pentecost Tuesday 1562, a great fire raged in the village, which killed nine houses, two barns and five granaries. During the Thirty Years' War the plague raged in Dickenreishausen. In 1628, 59 residents died within a very short time. The current church dates from 1752. The nave of the church was enlarged and partially rebuilt. Presumably the old church had become dilapidated. To the weather vanes and in a part of the plaster ceiling the Memminger appear crest and the crest of the lower Hospital. An inscription on the choir arch reads “ReaMLIfICata Deo SaCrata”. The church has changed little since then. Major renovations took place in 1898 and 1952. In 1949 the community received new bells because the old ones had to be given in during the Second World War . In 1791/1792 Dickenreishausen was deserted , that is, farmers were resettled in lonely areas to farm there. The parish of Dickenreishausen was created in 1803 through the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss . In 1905 Dickenreishausen received a railway connection with the "Legauer Bähnle", which was dismantled in 1975. On July 1, 1976, the municipality was incorporated into the city of Memmingen as part of the regional reform .
